The AIAC brings you its 3rd series of Roadshows on the suite of AIAC Standard Form of Building Contracts (the “SFCs”), which includes the AIAC 2019 SFC Main and Sub-Contracts (the “AIAC 2019 SFCs”), Design and Build Contracts, as well as Minor Works Contract.

Following the recent launch of the AIAC 2019 SFCs in November 2018, the AIAC is embarking on a series of Roadshows to familiarize the key industry players with the AIAC SFCs in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Sabah, Sarawak, and Johor.

The 1st series of Roadshows focused on the Key Features of the SFCs, Guide to the AIAC SFC Website, Statutory Adjudication and Construction Industry, Art of Adjudication Decision Writing, and Arbitration: Procedure and Overview. e 2nd rendition delegates were exposed to the Crucial Terms and Provisions of the SFCs – their reasoning and signicance, the Application of Essential Provisions in the Contracts, a Panel Discussion on the Contracts and had the opportunity to engage in a Q&A session with the Experts.

This year, the AIAC’s Roadshow will focus not only on the key features of the SFCs, but also how arbitration, adjudication, and mediation play a role in the AIAC SFCs. Attendees will hear from the AIAC SFC Expert Advisory Committee Members, which comprises of experts from the construction industry, about how the SFCs cater to the best practices in the construction industry and the amendments made to best suit its users. Additionally, other industry experts will explain the relationship between the SFCs and alternative dispute resolution mechanisms (arbitration, mediation, and adjudication) in fostering an environment of dispute avoidance.
